Critical Thinking and Writing skills:
Sociological Examination on Covid-19 Issues

 

Intruduction 课程简介:

The purpose of this workshop is to train participants how to think and write critically and systematically.  The inquiry of these useful skills is learned from examining social and cultural issues during Covid-19 crisis with sociological perspectives.

 

What Will You Learn 你将会学到:

1.       Learn a basic understanding of sociological theories and research methods.

2.       Learn how to apply theories to explain social issues.

3.       Learn how to use appropriate and relevant methods to collect data, supported by sociological theories, to collect data for analysis.

4.       Learn to communicate research findings in written format.

5.       Develop critical thinking and organizational skills.

 

Instructor: Ho Hon Leung

  • Full-time Professor at Sociology Department, SUNY Oneonta.

  • Received Ph.D. in Sociology from McGill University, Canada.

  • Chair of steering committee of Center for Social Science Research, SUNY Oneonta

  • Co-editor of a book entitled Investigating Diversity: Race, Ethnicity, and Beyond (Linton Atlantic Books, Ltd, 2008)

  • Collaborated with Raymond Lau, an architect in London, UK, he has research projects in Canada, US, Hong Kong, Greece, China, and Macau.

  • His main research areas include ethnic studies, immigration and immigrants, comparative ethnic aging. He recently develops a research interest in ethnic identity and architecture.
